It is heartening to see that retail deals are being concluded in Aberdeen despite the challenging economic background. Agents FG Burnett report that they have completed a number of deals recently. The former Nova property at 20/24 Chapel Street has been sold to a private investor and following refurbishment is now occupied by “Copper & Grey”, a second unit for them following the success of their Banchory branch which opened in 2018.
Owner Katherine Canning said “We are delighted to be opening a new store so quickly. It has been a difficult few months for many businesses and we couldn’t have continued without our amazingly loyal customer base.”
FG Burnett are also pleased to have acted for the landlord in the letting of the high profile corner unit at 24 Rose Street. The two storey former solicitors offices have been let to “Bloom Lifestyle Salon Limited” on a long lease. The property is currently undergoing a full refurbishment and will open late November offering Hair and Beauty Services, using sustainable, natural and environmentally friendly products. Bloom owner Sheona Forrest said ‘’I am delighted to be growing the Bloom brand in my own home city, adding to the already successful Bloom Glasgow location. ‘’I’m looking forward, beyond the current business circumstances which are challenging for everyone, in the hope that Bloom can bring something to the lovely hub of the west end, its retailers and other businesses who already create a destination in Aberdeen’s city centre’’
To compete this latest trio of deals FG Burnett have acted for the landlord at 15 Chapel Street in the letting to “Almondine”, the popular family run Aberdeen patisserie that specialise in macarons, operating since 2013. This is the 3rd letting within the 4 unit scheme, the other tenants being barbers “Ironstone” and beauticians “Arch & Mane”. One unit remains available through FGB.
Suzanne Horne, owner of Almondine commented “We are delighted that Almondine will now have a new and exciting location based at 15 Chapel Street, especially in these challenging and uncertain times.
Richard Noble of FG Burnett added “We are pleased to play our part in enabling these retail entrepreneurs to secure premises, what they offer is terrific for our West End, bricks and mortar retail is alive and well and needs to be supported fully by all of us to ensure that our town and city centres remain vibrant”.
