Expertise that Delivers: Introducing our Building Consultancy Team

Jim is an Executive Director and Heads up the Building Consultancy Department of FG Burnett. Jim has over 25 years post qualification experience in Building Surveying throughout Scotland.

Jim undertakes all aspects of Building Surveying however is possibly best well known locally for his work for both Landlords and Tenants when dealing with dilapidations as well as Project Monitoring new builds and significant refurbishments.

Outwith work Jim practised Tae Kwon Do for in excess of 17 years, attaining the rank of 4^th Degree Black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Jim is a keen mountain biker and can be found most weekends trying to keep it rubber side down – failing quite regularly!

Iona is a Director and Chartered Building Surveyor within the Building Consultancy department after joining FG Burnett as a graduate from Robert Gordon University in 2013. Through gaining vast experience in the department over the years, Iona has worked her way up through the business and continues to provide all of our Building Consultancy services in this key position.

Iona provides her expertise to clients across our vast range of services in the Building Consultancy department whilst also leading the Energy Team. Iona is heavily involved in ensuring clients comply with the energy regulations and also keeps on top of any developments in Scotland’s energy regulations in relation to non-domestic buildings.

Outside of the office, Iona spends her free time renovating a country croft to be her forever home.

Sam is a Chartered Building Surveyor within the Building Consultancy Team.

In his role, Sam provides the full range of Building Consultancy Services including measured surveys, schedules of conditions, dilapidations on behalf of landlords and tenants and taking up Contract Administration roles within multiple commercial projects across Aberdeen and the Shire.

Away from work, Sam enjoys playing football for local team Alford Amateurs, hitting the golf course whenever possible, spending time with friends and family and enduring the lifestyle that comes with supporting Aberdeen FC!

A graduate in Quantity Surveying at RGU, Keith reached Chartered Surveyor status whilst working for a local QS company in Aberdeen. For the following 15 years or so he gained extensive experience on the “professional” side of the construction industry, before jumping the fence into the world of Building Contracting. The next 20 years were spent in a more “hands-on” capacity in estimating, surveying and project management roles.

Keith joined FG Burnett in 2024, and his industry knowledge is a perfect fit for our Building Consultancy and Property Management departments. He is heavily involved in providing early construction cost advice and carries out feasibility studies on new and existing properties for our clients.

Once a project receives the go-ahead, Keith can manage the construction contract at all stages – from preparing tenders to obtaining the best possible price for the works, to managing the construction process on site and dealing with all the admin and finances through to completion and beyond.

Away from the coal-face, Keith likes to spend time out in the countryside on his bike or doing a bit of (slow) trail running with his faithful hound Archie. He enjoys watching more or less any type of sport but is probably at his happiest cooking on his barbecue surrounded by family & friends.
