Plans to convert Aberdeen’s former John Lewis department store into a multi-level entertainment venue have been approved, paving the way for a major city-centre regeneration project. The development will see Norco House, located on George Street, transformed into a four-storey leisure complex. Councillors approved the proposals during a planning committee meeting on 19th June 2025.
The approved plans also include improvements to surrounding properties, which will benefit from increased footfall and renewed interest in the area. The development is seen as a potential catalyst for wider regeneration across the City Centre.
Richard Noble of FG Burnett, acting for the Landlord, welcomed the decision, noting that the approval will enable discussions with potential tenants to be finalised. He said interest in the project has been strong, with announcements involving national leisure operators expected in the coming weeks.
